Tadpole Garden Village

Tadpole Garden Village is a new mixed-use development on the edge of Swindon, which will provide 1,695 new homes when complete.

The development has already won national recognition after being named best in the UK for achieving ‘a visionary Community Interest Company’ at the 2015 Housebuilder Awards and shortlisted for ‘Outstanding Placemaking’ in the 2017 Sunday Times British Homes Awards. Industry judges held it up as a shining example of how to create and maintain sustainable communities for the future.

Delivering and maintaining extensive community infrastructure

Tadpole Garden Village comprises a vast area of common, dedicated to public use, which runs the length of the new community and will include a range of recreation and sporting facilities and activities.

Allotments, play areas, a new town park and stray, a new area of woodland and a nature park, will be run in partnership with Wiltshire Wildlife Trust – and these are just some of the features which will link the development to the adjoining countryside.

As managing agents for Tadpole Garden Village, Preim:

  • Employs a community mobiliser, who helps to engage and empower local residents – so they have a say over the direction of their community
  • Maintains and manages green spaces – including grassland, open spaces and woodland
  • Maintains ponds, play areas, pathways, cycleways and fencing
  • Manages the administration and collection of service charges for the Community Interest Company
  • Handles estate management repairs

The vision for Tadpole Garden Village is that it will become a community-owned and led development, whereby the Community Interest Company will take ownership of more and more key community amenities over time.

Preim is on hand to support throughout this process, whilst also ensuring Tadpole Garden Village remains beautifully maintained according to the residents’ and developers’ high standards.

Enabling residents with smart village technology

In summer 2019 we were delighted to launch a new community app at Tadpole Garden Village. With features that enable community conversations and tools to help residents make the most of the growing development, the app includes:

  • A forum where residents can ask questions or chat about topics of their choice
  • A place to report issues with communal amenities maintained by Preim, via the Tadpole Garden Village Community Interest Company
  • An events calendar, with details of upcoming community events
  • A list of useful contacts, from Crest Nicholson to the local leisure centre
  • News from Crest Nicholson with everything from school initiatives to development updates

The development of this app is indicative of our dedication to empowering residents, using technology where possible to help us do so. Tadpole Garden Village is a model modern development with a community ownership structure that supports the adoption of smart village technology, which can be adapted to the community’s needs.

We are always looking for new ways to assist our communities in adopting smart village infrastructure, with this community app being a fantastic example for Tadpole Garden Village.
