Meet the Team: Musician and art lover Sam Der-Kevorkian brings his organisational skills and thirst for a challenge to his new role with Preim

Thursday 19th August 2021

We are delighted to welcome Sam Der-Kevorkian to the Preim team, as our new utilities administrator. We catch up with the musician, singer and keen gymnast to find out more about the role:

Sam Der-Kevorkian
Utilities Administrator

Q: Welcome to Preim – can you tell us a little about your role with the company and what your responsibilities are?

A: My role involves building supplier relationships, organising bills for each utility type (gas/electricity/water/council tax) and preparing these invoices to be processed and paid. I focus on quality control – making sure that every invoice that gets delivered to us is accurate, precise and suitable for processing. I also produce the Creditors Report which is then run for approval to provide efficient payments to the suppliers.

Q: How do you see your role making a difference to residents and / or other members of the Preim team?

A: Working at Preim has been a gratifying experience so far. Even though my job does not involve communicating with customers directly, helping amend the utilities and bills before they move into their new homes without the added complications of suppliers chasing payments makes this job even more important to me. I hope that my determination and passion for keeping everything organised will allow me to help others with any tasks they may need assistance with. Utilities may not be at the forefront of the company’s activities, but I am eager to learn as much as I can to get things in order and help as many people as I can, both inside and outside of our office.

Q: What previous experience do you have and what did you do before joining Preim?

A: I graduated from Canterbury Christ Church University with a degree in Music and Business Studies and then went on to study a Masters at the University of Leeds in the same field. I’ve had some work experience in a recording studio in London, shadowing a professional composer with how to compose music for films and TV series.

Q: Can you tell us a little about your interests or hobbies outside of work?

A: I am a musician, I studied music for most of my life! I play the piano, violin, guitar and I am a singer, I like to express myself in any creative outlet I can. I also enjoy art and learning new skills (languages and cooking mainly). I also like to make time for my social life with friends, explore new places and travel whenever I can. I am originally from Thailand, so I like to go back occasionally and learn about my culture more thoroughly. I have also recently started gymnastics again, after taking a long gap from it since my school days, which is a challenge as I have lost all my flexibility at this point!
