Kingsgrove residents enjoy another annual Community Day

Friday 20th October 2023

The latest Community Day at the Kingsgrove development, near Wantage, might just have been the best yet. In fact, it was two events in one, with an afternoon community fair and then an evening of musical entertainment, complete with a delicious hog roast.

At Preim, we are committed to fostering meaningful, face-to-face relationships with the residents on the estates we manage and were delighted to get involved in this latest event, joining the community as it came together to make use of the estate’s fantastic neighbourhood spaces.

Our Customer Account Manager, Tom Tracy, was on hand all day to assist with setup and pack down and looked after a small stand where he spoke with residents about the ongoing management of the development.

Special guests were also in attendance as the afternoon event was formally opened by the Worshipful Mayor of Wantage, Councillor Dr Angela Dunford.

Crowds enjoyed over 25 diverse stalls and activities, including the opportunity to make some “Kingsgrove bunting” from old juice cartons and the chance to admire the intricate work of the Ridgeway Quilters.

The Chequers Inn from Charney Bassett, The Happy Plaice and The Heritage Bakery also all provided delicious food.

There was also an apple press on site for residents to press their own “Kingsgrove” apple juice to celebrate the time apple groves in the area grew fruit for King Alfred.

This year’s event also saw the first Kingsgrove Dog Show. A children’s fancy dress competition, Lego and Duplo building activities and bird box painting were all enjoyed by the development’s youngsters.

Local musicians, Al Jenkins and Howard Hill, entertained the crowds as the afternoon was winding down before the “Hog Roast & Music Evening” at the primary school, which had been especially decorated for the occasion.

A range of wonderful food and drink was on offer and local band, Studio Six kept people singing and dancing into the evening.

A huge thank you to everyone that made the latest Kingsgrove Community Day such a great success. The development is a glowing example of a strong, resident-focussed community that really is thriving as it grows.
