Although spring feels well and truly upon us now, the rainy weather at the Easter weekend didn’t put a dampener on the fantastic community events taking place at Tadpole Garden Village and Kilnwood Vale.
Read all about the bank holiday weekend events that took place and their importance in building these new communities:
On Sunday 1 April, upwards of 65 children, their parents and family all came together to embark upon the first Kilnwood Vale Easter egg hunt.
Anna Grimshaw, Kilnwood Vale’s community mobiliser, organised the event and was sure to include plenty of activities for all. A colouring competition and a chance to follow a trail to collect Easter clues were a huge success. Resident Stuart Ralph said: “Well done Anna, and all those from Preim, who organised [the] Easter egg hunt. What a lovely atmosphere and to see so many children enjoying the hunt – an excellent event. Roll on the summer!”
For neighbour Lucie Holmes, the event was equally well received: “Thank you Anna for organising such a great event which obviously a lot of effort went in to. The children loved it.”

Tadpole Garden Village has hosted many fantastic community events over the last few years, from allotment openings to Christmas carols. On Saturday 31 March it added another successful community get together to its list with an Easter egg-travaganza that welcomed over 100 residents, family and friends.
The event marked the opening of another community amenity for the garden village with the ribbon being cut for a new play park. Boasting a carousel, slide, see-saw, swings and more the play park was a resounding success amongst residents.
Organised by Tadpole Garden Village’s community mobiliser, Chris Tanner, the event also welcomed Andrew Dobson, managing director of Crest Nicholson’s strategic projects division, and Jane Leo, principal of Tadpole Farm Academy, to officially open the park.
Importantly the occasion marked the beginning of the handover of the play park from Crest Nicholson, the garden village’s master developer, to the Tadpole Garden Village Community Interest Company – progressing the development towards the vision of its amenities being community owned and managed.
The event also saw children take part in colouring competitions and an Easter egg hunt, with bonnet design and best baker prizes up for grabs too.

Although events like these are wonderful in any community, for a new development they are essential. Not only are they an opportunity to bring residents together, they also provide a chance to update all on progress at the garden village and engage them with amenities that will, in time, be owned by their Community Interest Company or Residents’ Management Company.
