Christmas spirit shines through at Preim communities

Wednesday 21st December 2022

Despite very chilly temperatures in the run up to this year’s holidays, residents at Preim garden villages have been putting on a fabulous show of festive spirit – from carols around the Christmas tree, to visits from Santa and mulled wine to warm everyone up again!

Preim has been delighted to donate Christmas trees to Tadpole Garden Village, Forge Wood, Kilnwood Vale, Hunts Grove, Monksmoor Park, Oakham and Faringdon Fields, with trees also arranged for Heathy Wood and Kingsgrove in conjunction with the developer.

At Kilnwood Vale, we were pleased to arrange for mulled wine and mince pies to be provided by Jack & the Bean Coffee on a fabulous festive day that saw over 200 residents sing carols around the tree.

Led by Kathryn Marsh, and supported by the rest of the resident committee, the event was held in conjunction with the development’s primary school, who held their own Christmas Fair on the same day. Local bus operator, Metrobus, organised for Santa to make an appearance, whilst scrumptious food and drink could be bought from resident-owned stalls. A real community effort to put on a so-ho-ho-ho marvelous event!

For the West Sussex community, three 18ft Christmas trees were installed by the on-site Whiting’s landscape team, led by foreman Glen. Also in the region, in Crawley, Forge Wood, saw Preim pay for Christmas trees that were installed by the Whiting’s team, led by the site foreman John.

Kasia Ganzera, our community mobiliser at Tadpole Garden Village, has been bringing lots of Christmas cheer to the Swindon development too. On 10 December residents gathered for carol singing. As a welcome escape from the freezing temperatures, residents were welcomed back to the community pub, The Strawberry Thief, for mulled wine and mince pies arranged and paid for by Preim.

Bringing plenty of sparkle to TGV, Kasia also organised a Christmas Light Trail for the community. Residents were invited to visit different locations throughout the development, where letters were displayed along with fabulous festive lights. Together the letters formed a Christmas message that residents had to decode – to be in with a chance of winning a prize. A great way to get people exploring their community, and to be wowed by the Christmas displays residents have created!

At Heathy Wood, on the Surrey-West Sussex border, the developer’s (St Modwen Homes) PR firm, Halogen, put together a great Christmas event where the church choir and band

entertained whilst mulled wine and mince pies were enjoyed by all, around the Christmas tree. Simon, Preim’s customer account manager for the estate, was also on hand at a pop-up surgery to help residents with queries and questions they may have.

With such a jam-packed run up to Christmas, we hope all at the communities have had the opportunity to enjoy some of the holiday spirit – whether that’s catching up with neighbours at a festive event, a chance to relax with a mulled wine and mince pie, or simply enjoying some Christmas sparkle from the trees at the developments. We would like to take this opportunity to wish all residents, community associations, groups and developers we work with a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
