Community at Christmas

Friday 23rd December 2016

Is there a better time than at Christmas to celebrate community? This year the various garden villages and communities Preim work with have come together to create a wonderful festive feel and it’s all part of the model we adopt to make sure people feel at home in new developments.

Find out about the Christmas events our community mobilisers Chris Tanner and Rebecca Eytle have helped organise or been a part of this Christmas…

Christmas at Tadpole Garden Village

The countdown to Christmas started early for Tadpole Garden Village residents with a series of events being staged in the build-up to the festive period.

Around 30 residents gathered on Thursday 24th November for a pre-Christmas drinks evening at The Blunsdon Arms for a few hours of conversation. It was a chance for residents old and new to get to know one another and discuss a range of common topics ahead of the busy festive period.

And when December arrived, there was soon a festive feel to Tadpole Garden Village with three large Christmas trees installed and decorated. The Community Interest Company (CIC), working in association with Crest Nicholson and Preim, organised the installation of the trees at each end of the development with another outside Tadpole Farm CE Primary School at the heart of the community.

It was great to hear some lovely feedback from Tadpole Garden Villages too. Steve Curwood, from the CIC steering committee said:

“A massive thank you to all for coordinating the installation of the Christmas trees and to Crest for sponsoring them. The feedback from residents has been great with many quoting friends and family that pass the area on a daily basis noting them… ‘never seen other developments do this’ and ‘Christmas has arrived at TGV’. They are certainly getting noticed.”

Then the Christmas Carol Service at Tadpole Farm CE Primary School on Thursday 15th December saw a number of residents join pupils and staff. Beautiful singing by Year 1 and 2 pupils helped warm the hearts of those who had braved a starry, but drizzly, December night.

There will be three services across Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, with all residents invited to attend at St Andrew’s North Swindon (Blunsdon) with further details at www.tadpolegardenvillage.com

Christmas at Arborfield Green

Festivities have similarly been in full swing at another Crest Nicholson development, Arborfield Green. A real highlight was the turning on of the Christmas Lights, held at the Arborfield Green cricket pitch on Thursday 8th December.

Between 300 and 350 members of the community came along to enjoy mince pies, mulled wine and beautiful carols around the Christmas tree from Arborfield Military Wives Choir and Bohunt School Choir.

Merry Christmas from Preim

We’d like to take this opportunity to wish all the residents and stakeholders we work with a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We look forward to a great 2017 with many more community events to come!
